Tell us about Formula Three, because it tends to go under the radar a bit. Formula Three is like doing your apprenticeship – you do well in F3, move into F2, and then, if all goes right, get your start in F1. The car is basically a mini-Formula One car. The top speed is about 260km/h, which is about 40km/h less than the top speed in Formula One. I won the national championship in 2011, which was really good, because I’ll be heading to Europe during the year to meet with some F1 teams about development.

Do you ever have nightmares about crashing?
No, but I’ve had some scares. My brakes failed in Adelaide earlier this year, and when you’re doing close to 250km/h coming into a tight hairpin and your brakes fail, it’s not fun.
