Bulletproof

With their new 82 model, Mazu have found a clever way to incorporate features from huge cruisers into the smaller lightweight carbon composite hull…

Equipped with bulletproof deckhouse, this sleek new 79-foot yacht from Turkish company Mazu is equal parts superyacht and cruiser — and popular with crims worldwide. Turkey is a global hotspot for superyacht design right now, so this vessel is in high demand with rich civilians, too.
Beyond there is the open foredeck which has three uses: a dining area for 12, a sunbathing area, and an open-air cinema — and what’s more superyacht than an outdoor cinema?
Renowned interior designer Tanju Ozelgin wanted to create an interior more in tune with land architecture than nautical, so he went with a 19.3 foot beam and freestanding furniture to keep things roomy below deck, with room for three cabins — a master’s suite, VIP suite and a twin. He also utilised an inviting lighting system that mirrors the suns warmth, and tied it to together with natural woods, leathers and bronze hardware to create a work of art residence on the water.
The Mazu 82 also has some speed few superyachts could match. Courtesy of three Volvo Penta IPS engines, the boat has an impressive top speed of 74 km/h and a cruising speed of 35 knots — perfect for the chase or an escape. With 4,500 litres of fuel on board, you’ll be able to travel just over 700 km between fuelings.
The first purchaser of this latest Mazu intends to use it as a floating home/office to keep away from the COVID chaos on the mainland — that’s quite an expensive vaccine.
