Carrie Minter

Meet CARRIE MINTER, the gorgeous model and Pilates expert who doesn’t mind a little dad-bod action. You’re welcome…

Hey, Carrie, tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m originally from Mesquite, Texas, and my heritage is mostly Scandinavian and Irish. I first got into modelling when I was 15. My mum entered me in a local competition and I won. Then I signed with a local agency in Dallas, as well as Elite in NYC.

As a Pilates expert, fitness is not only your career, but passion. Was that always the case?
Actually, fitness wasn’t always a big passion of mine. Once I was introduced to Pilates though, I stuck with it and watched how it completely transformed by body and I got a lot stronger. I always feel better after I workout and I love teaching. I’m grateful now that I have the opportunity to do what I love, because it never feels like work.

Carrie’s Pilates Plus is one of your businesses. What makes your workout plans different to others?
I don’t teach normal Pilates. What I teach is like Pilates on crack. It’s an intense workout with great music and we use a mic in class and I make it fun! Once you take my class in L.A. you won’t get the same workout or experience anywhere else.

Do you think exercising is a good couple’s activity or do you find it best to ride solo?
Exercising together is a great couples’ activity. Anything fun and active you do together is awesome and working out with your partner also helps you stay on track. Taking different workout classes, hiking, swimming, playing beach volleyball, even shooting pool, or just taking the dogs for a walk are also all fun things to do as a couple.

Do you prefer to date guys who feel the same way about your lifestyle or would you go for a little dad-bod action?
I definitely wouldn’t mind a Dad bod at all 🙂 I’m not super strict with diet and exercise. I try to stay on top of working out and eating clean, but I fall off sometimes! You gotta live a little! However, it is always nice though when someone else does share a passion for health and fitness, since it is my job.

What’s your idea of a perfect date?
An amazing dinner with great food, wine and conversation. I also love doing fun activities like jet skiing, roller skating, ice skating, zip lining…Summer is definitely my favourite time of the year. I love the beach, waterparks, BBQ’s, pool parties, and one of my favourite past-times was “Fun in the Sun” on Sundays at the Playboy Mansion — basically a girls pool day with cocktails, swimming, trampoline, a full-on food menu and a movie night later on.

Nice one! Have you ever been on a bad date?
The last really awful date I had was when my date talked to the bartender the whole time instead of me!

How do you feel about a man who has a grooming routine of his own? Necessary or too high-maintenance?
While I will always appreciate a man who takes care of himself, I wouldn’t likely go for a man who looks in the mirror more than I do or takes longer to get ready than me. I genuinely don’t go for “pretty” guys — I like my man to be the MAN.

When do you feel sexiest?
First thing in the morning when I’m natural and ready for the day.

Have you ever visited Australia?
I’ve never visited Australia, but I’d love to go soon! I’ve met some of the coolest, most down-to-earth, easy-going people from there!

What’s something people would be surprised to know about you?
Well, I’ve recently become pretty handy — I just purchased a new home and have done a lot of work on it myself, like taking out carpets, putting in floors and lots of painting! I love to learn and have become a pretty good handywoman. Oh, and I also have four dogs – they’re all over my Instagram stories usually!

You have a decent Instagram following. How do you handle negative comments or creepy dudes?
Any negativity on Instagram I just delete and block. There will always be haters and creepers! The most annoying thing lately, though, are fake accounts impersonating me, where someone is going around trying to DM chat with followers of mine and ask for money and gift cards!

You actually have three Instagram accounts. How do you keep up with them all?
Yes, it can be challenging for sure! @carrieminterfitness is a new account that I need to spend some time working on. I’m always working though — I’ll bring my laptop with me to the rooftop pool and bar, and even grab a cocktail while I get work done. I try to make it fun.

What’s your go-to drink?
TEQUILA!

Lastly, what’s the future hold in store for you?
I’m definitely more focused on the business side of things as opposed to modelling right now. I’m in the process of creating my own line of equipment and a licensing program to open up fitness studios worldwide. My priority right now is Carrie’s Pilates Plus and my new company, The Minter Method. I also just launched my first teacher training certification course which I am very excited about too! ■
