Runway Rocker

Getting to know horse riding, rock & roll lover and budding travel vlogger JENNIFER BUTCHER…

Tell us a bit about yourself, Jennifer.
I’m a first-generation Mexican American who grew up in the countryside of Northern California USA. I spent my summers as a kid in Jalisco, Mexico, where I learned to ride horses and I’ve wanted to be a model since I was five. My mum would record me with her Camcorder, as I pretended to catwalk down a runway. When I turned 17, I drove to Los Angeles for my first photo shoot. LA sparked my love of rock & roll and inspired me to learn to play electric guitar – riding horses and playing the electric guitar are my passions. Nothing makes me feel more alive than art, whether it’s music, photography or nature.

What would people be most surprised to know about you?
Most likely that I love being outside and getting dirty! On my Instagram I post the polished version of me – designer high heels and short skirts – when in reality I’d rather be in my cowgirl boots, no make-up and exploring the outdoors.

When do you feel sexy?
When I’m wearing high stilettos and a long, form-fitting dress accentuating my feminine figure, while leaving the rest to the vast imagination of the mind. Stature and composure are very sexy to me.

What is your best asset?
I really love my dark brown eyes and long lashes. You can tell so much about someone by looking into their eyes, especially their mood and sincerity. Also, along with teaching me to live off the land, my parents taught me to write, read and speak Spanish. I’m thankful I’m able to communicate with a wide range of people, from different parts of the world.

What do you look for in a man?
I look for self-confidence, respect, vulnerability and integrity in a man. Someone who makes me feel protected and cared for, while still acknowledging I am ambitious. A confident man will never feel threatened by a successful partner with dreams and aspirations. I’m big on integrity and respect, someone who is kind to everyone regardless of their “status”. I find it attractive when a man’s ego is not easily threatened, and they know who they are. I also love when somebody can admit their faults and share their fears and goals, no matter how big they seem.

Describe your ideal date.
Spend the morning walking on the beach or hiking, surrounded by animals and beautiful views. Then driving into a beautiful city, where we can visit an art museum and admire architecture. Followed by dressing up and going to a luxurious dinner – somewhere with glass walls, live music and lots of oysters. Ending the night at home and snuggling next to a roaring fire.

What can we get you at the bar?
Dirty Martini with Tito’s Vodka – double shot, double olive.

What have you learned about men over the years?
Men are just as open hearted and in-tune with their emotions as women. Society puts a lot of pressure on men, to be the providers and never crack under pressure or show emotion. From a young age they are told to “Man up” or “Don’t cry, be a man”. They should feel safe to express their thoughts and emotions, without the fear of being deemed “weak” or “emasculate”. Communication goes a long way.

What’s one thing men should always know about women?
That women don’t need “saving”, women need support and encouragement. Women are capable of astonishing achievements, and with a supportive partner the sky is the limit!

What’s next for you? Any exciting projects on the horizon you can share with us?
I am working on creating a travel show/channel. My idea is to vlog about different travel destinations whilst also educating myself on the culture and customs, indulging in the cuisine and meeting locals. With the profits and platform of the channel, the goal is to do charitable work around the globe. I see myself documenting my travels with the profits of helping others. With such
little we can give so much.
