Kodi Buckley

As the daughter of one of Australia’s most enigmatic businessmen, fitness fanatic and ambassador KODI BUCKLEY is on a mission to crush some life goals while helping others achieve theirs…

Hello, Kodi, congratulations on your MAXIM cover debut. How do you feel?
I am forever grateful for this opportunity. Childhood me would be kicking myself right now if she knew she was going to be on the cover of MAXIM one day. I had a blast shooting with everyone, I loved that we were in such a beautiful house to do this, and it was a great day by the pool.

Well, you look great. What’s your best asset?
I would say my best asset is my personality – I’m a really big softy and have a big heart. I always give to those around me who I love.

Nice one. Tell us a bit more about yourself.
I’m a 22-year-old Aussie, who grew up in Melbourne then moved to the Gold Coast, but came back to Victoria two and a half years ago to be with my late mum. I can definitely say I prefer the big city over the Goldie.

What would people be most surprised to know about you?
I’m honestly a very shy person and it takes me a little bit to get overly comfortable around someone. I also love to be in my own company and I’m a very chill person. I’m pretty much always in gym clothes and it’s very rare if you don’t see me with my favourite sets on.

When you’re not posing for MAXM or on Instagram, what else would we find you doing in your daily life?
I go to the gym every day, which is where I spend most of my time. If I’m not there I’m with my beautiful friends or family. I also love to play with my animals, go for walks and go out to cute cafes.

Yes, from your social media posts, you do indeed spend a lot of time in the gym. How often do you work out?
I work out six days a week, Sundays are rest days, and usually spend two hours in the gym each day.

Can you share one of your daily fitness routines?
I’ll give you this one – it’s my routine I do for legs three times a week…
Leg Extensions: 12 reps x 4 sets
Pendulum Squat: 10 reps x 5 sets
Lying Leg Curl: 12 reps x 3 sets last one drop set
Weighted Bulgarian Split Squat: 10 reps x 4 sets
Smith Machine Squat: 10 reps x 4 sets
Leg Press: 12 reps x 3 sets
Donkey Kickbacks: 12 reps x 3 sets

You’re soon to be an ambassador for Women’s Fitness Australia. What do you love and hate about being a fitness influencer?
Yes, I’m so excited! There’s nothing to hate, I love fitness and helping myself and my friends feel their absolute best.

What’s the best fitness tip you can share with us?
Consistency and your diet are everything. If you train and eat healthy, in moderation, it will impact your life drastically.

When do you feel sexy?
I feel my sexiest when I’m in the gym or all dressed up for a night out.

Describe what it’s like being the daughter of the sometimes-controversial Sean Buckley, Executive Chairman of Ultra Tune?
I absolutely love being his daughter. There’s nothing really to describe, just that he’s a great guy, a good person and an amazing dad who has given me a great life which I’m extremely appreciative of. I’ve always been a daddy’s girl.

What are the positives and negatives about having one of Australia’s biggest business tycoons as a father?
There are no negatives, he’s a great dad and one of the best guys I know. He always does what he can to help me and others.

As his daughter, does this mean you automatically get a starring role in the next Ultra Tune TV commercial?
I definitely do hope so! Haha…

What do you think about all the controversy around previous Ultra Tune ads starring the likes of Jean-Claude Van Damme, Charlie Sheen and Pamela Anderson?
I think any publicity is good publicity. I honestly quite enjoyed the ads and found them funny and unique. Everyone has their own opinions, but I loved them.

Has political correctness gone a little too crazy these days?
People of power must be conscious of what they portray to the world. I feel we should be less judgmental as a society and include all different perspectives. Opinions vary.

Describe your ideal man.
My ideal man would be really into fitness, have a great sense of humour and likes doing the same things as me.

What’s one thing men should always remember about women?
If a girl loves you, she will make you happy by giving you her time and effort, because we don’t get enough of time. Even calling your phone to talk about her day or messaging you a couple of times – it’s the little things men should see that count. Women don’t want anything from you – just your time.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given and by whom?
Both my parents have always taught me to be kind. My mum taught me to always be myself, even if I feel judged, and to stand up for what’s right or wrong. She also taught me to always give back to those in need.

Where would you like to be in five years?
Seeing my mum become a pro bodybuilder, when she was younger, has made me want to step in the same direction. I could see myself competing in fitness competitions in a few years or helping others to reach their goals and hopefully winning some, too.

What’s next for you? Any exciting projects on the horizon you can share with us?
Yes, but you’ll just have to wait and see!
