Molly Moyies

There’s a lot to love about former bodybuilding competitor, gym junkie, floral designer, perennial Destination MAXIM model and your classic down-to-earth Aussie beach babe, MOLLY MOYIES…

Hello, Molly, congrats on your first MAXIM Australia cover. How do you feel?
I’m over the moon! Ever since doing my first ever Destination MAXIM tour last October, I’ve always made it a goal of mine and I’ve achieved it. Whenever you put your mind to something you can do anything.

Cool photo shoot. What did you love most about it?
Not only working with such a great team, but the Villas in Bali, where we stayed and shot this, were so beautifully designed. Bali is one of my all-time favourite places to visit, so being able to shoot in a location that has always felt like a home to me was so much fun.

How do you prepare yourself for a swimwear or lingerie shoot?
By eating clean and training consistently leading up to the photo shoot so you can feel your best. If you’re not comfortable in your own skin on the day it can really show. Also, always reward yourself after the photo shoot.

What’s the funniest reaction you’ve received from someone seeing you in swimwear or lingerie?
That would definitely be my best friend squealing loud at work when I surprised her with my cover at her work.

What is your best asset?
Definitely my blue eyes and bum!

When do you feel you’re at your sexiest?
I feel sexy in a new matching lingerie set.

You now live in Sydney’s northern beaches but grew up in the country, right?
I spent most of my time travelling back and forth from the city to the country, so I had the best of both worlds. There isn’t really any difference between a country and city girl.

Do you prefer the beach or countryside?
The beach by far! Even though I find the countryside very soothing, the beach has always been my happy place.

You studied to be a florist with Pearsons – why did you choose this career?
I’m very arty – art and photography were always my favourite subjects at school. I struggled with dyslexia throughout high school and mathematics and English weren’t my best subjects. So, I chose to focus on the ones that I enjoyed.

You’re also currently studying personal training, yes?
Yes, I’m quite passionate about mental health and when I was in a really dark place I fell in love with the gym. So, I decided to learn more about the fitness industry.

How did you get your start in the modelling industry?
I started back when I was 16 when I walked the catwalk in two of the Hair Expos for Wella and Aveda. Unfortunately, I had to stop as I needed to focus on school, but fast forward to 2020 – when I started to compete in bodybuilding competitions – and the stylist who was working on a photo shoot with me mentioned MAXIM. And now here I am – four Destination MAXIM tours later and I’m on the cover!

What are the top three things you’ve taken away from our Destination MAXIM tours?
Firstly, confidence – doing the Destination MAXIM tours has really helped me build up my confidence a lot, which is something I really lacked. Secondly, experience and thirdly, I really enjoyed meeting girls from all over the world and creating bonds with them.

Let’s talk about your tattoos. Do tattooed women have more fun?
I don’t think we have more fun, I think it just makes us more interesting because they all have a story behind them.

When did you get your first tattoo and what was it?
The first tattoo I got is three roses with an arrow. An arrow can only be shot in one direction, which is forward, and this is to encourage me to keep pushing forward in life.

Tell us the story of how you came to have lots of ink?
It’s true what they say – once you get one you can’t stop. I currently have 10 tattoos and I’m sure there are more to come.

What are your top three favourites?
The first is a fighting fish on my arm which represents my dad who passed away in 2018 from a terminal illness and he showed me to keeping pushing through the hard times. The second would have to be my cat – he is my absolute world and brings me so much happiness. The third one would be the snake which is my most recent one and represents new beginnings.

What tattoo do you want to get next?
I’m currently working with an artist to work on my thigh and add more to my sleeve. I obviously love flowers so I will mostly just stick with the floral theme I have going on.

What tattoo would you never get?
I’d never get a partner’s name tattooed on my body – it never ends well, haha!

What would people be most surprised to know about you?
I’m introverted and extroverted. I live by myself, so I love my own company, but I love socialising at the same time.

What’s the funniest comment or message you’ve received from an Instagram follower?
The funniest message would definitely have to be, “Can you send me a photo of your feet for $500”. A photo of my feet is worth more than that! HA!

What advice would you give to someone wanting to ask you out?
Be confident and be yourself.

Would you ever date one of your social media followers?
Yes I would! He knows who he is.

What’s the most popular request you get on your socials?
The number one would be, “Do you have OnlyFans and would you ever start it”.

What’s next for you? Are there any exciting projects on the horizon you can share with us?
Yes! I’m just about to travel overseas for two-and-a-half months and when I get back I’m switching up my career path, so you’ll just have to catch up with the next Destination MAXIM to find out more!
