Viva Las Vegas

Fitness model, DJ, golf caddie, VIP party girl and more – yes, it’s time to get acquainted with Brazilian born beauty and versatile Vegas vixen MEL ANTUNES…

Hello, Mel, congrats on your MAXIM Australia feature. How do you feel?
Hi! I feel very excited! Such an honour to shoot for one of the biggest, and hottest, magazine brands in the world.

What did you love about the photo shoot?
I loved our crew – everyone was so nice. I also love to shoot by the ocean with the waves hitting my body, even though the water was freezing that day!

When do you feel sexy?
When I’m tanned and wearing lingerie.

What is your best asset?
My booty – LOL – and my imagination.

Give us a little more background about yourself.
I was born in Brazil, schooled in Italy, travelled all over and moved to the Denver, Colorado U.S.A. years ago. I got my degree in physical education and then decided to move to Las Vegas.

You’re a fitness model – when and why did you decide to pursue this career?
I started years ago and have always been passionate about the fitness industry. I love challenges and challenging my body gives me the sense of accomplishment. I just love to push myself.

Describe your work in the fitness industry.
I’ve modelled for a variety of fitness brands and worked with some pretty cool photographers. I was actually a fitness competitor for some good years. The toughest part? No doubt it’s the dieting, because I love to eat – that was rough.

What’s the best fitness advice you could give to others?
You have to find what works for you and stay disciplined. Also, get enough sleep. That plays a huge part of being and staying fit.

Your Instagram suggests you attend a lot of parties. What’s one of the most epic VIP parties you’ve experienced.
OMG! I live in Vegas, so I’ve been to so many epic ones. I do remember one where I was hired to be the DJ – it was a bachelor’s party at a two-storey Villa at The Palms. They had all sorts of exotic people and animals – including pythons and a ping pong show!

Besides the trolls and haters, what else do you dislike about social media?
The fact that it gives people false sense of accomplishments – plus, it is really time-consuming.

Would you ever date one of your social media followers?
Yes, 100 percent! How I meet people is not how I choose to date. So, yes!

What do you look for in a man?
Good sense of humour, being supportive, faithful and stability is very important, too!

How can a man win his way to your heart?
By genuinely appreciating me, always making me feel special, gives me lots of attention and oh, he has to smell good.

What have you learned about men over the years?
That smart men want smart women, looks aren’t everything and it goes both ways. Also, sex takes about 40 minutes – the rest of the time you have to talk.

What’s one thing men should always know about women?
That we are very sensitive. Also, we want to know about your ex-girlfriends… but only to confirm that we are better!

If you had to take MAXIM on a date, what would it entail?
We would go to a beachside restaurant then sit on the beach under the stars afterwards and let the waves determine the rest of the night.

What’s the sexiest thing a guy can do in the bedroom?
Bring me champagne and make use of it in multiple ways.

Where’s the best place you’ve travelled?
Plitvice Lakes, Croatia – it is breathtaking! Google it and you will understand.

Have you ever been to Australia?
No, but I can’t wait to go there and meet my new friends!

Besides koalas and kangaroos, what else do you know about Australia?
It has the best surf in the world, some pretty good wines, too, and I hear Aussies are very easy-going and friendly.

What would people be most surprised to know about you?
That I can bake! I love baking some goodies. Also, I’m a golf caddie – gotta love golf!

What’s one thing you’d change about the world?
We really need to change the way society treats animals. Also, unsympathetic attitude – it has become cool to lack empathy for others. People try to act tough, so they do not seem weak. It’s very sad.

What’s next for you?
Well, my DJ career is taking off and I have some pretty cool work coming up with some major casinos in Vegas. Can’t wait to play in Australia, though! Watch this space.
