Meet NYLA FULLER, the fitness bikini bodybuilding competitor and content creator whose always looking for the next adventure…

Welcome to MAXIM Australia, Nyla. Tell us a bit about your shoot.
Thanks! Miami is such a beautiful setting that it didn’t take much to bring this shoot to life. We wanted a natural, beach-bronzed look and that’s almost effortless in Miami. Biscayne Beach’s breezy palm trees, aquamarine water and view of the city skyline went perfectly with bright bikinis and a tan.

You look fit. When do you feel sexy?
For me, feeling sexy is a state of mind where I feel relaxed and confident with myself. I like having my hair and nails freshly done and wearing a little black dress and high heels – can’t go wrong with that!

What is your best asset?
My eyes and smile. I have very blue eyes and I also practice being a kind person whenever possible. Someone once told me, “Be kind to everyone because you never know what they are going through” and this stuck with me.

Nice. Give us a little more background about yourself.
I was born and raised in Western Canada and later moved to Australia and the United States as a graduate student. I joined a gym at 19 and it quickly became a part of my lifestyle. My passion for fitness expanded into modelling when I did a swimwear shoot on the Gold Coast in 2015. Since then, I’ve been inspired to keep pursuing fitness competitions, modelling and brand collaborations. I’m a very creative person, and I love the routine and discipline in the fitness lifestyle. I currently live in Calgary, Canada and enjoy travelling and exploring beautiful places – and, of course, participating in new shoots, fitness events and business ventures.

What would people be most surprised to know about you?
Probably that I consider myself an introvert. Even though I enjoy time in the spotlight, my preference is to socialise one-on-one and in smaller groups. My best creative ideas come to me when I’m alone relaxing, training, reading or listening to music.

What one thing have you learnt about men?
Men aren’t as difficult as women make them out to be. They usually say what they are thinking and the first solution to many problems is usually food. Keep him fed!

What do you look for in a man?
Good work ethic, sense of humour, appreciation for health and fitness, a good conversationalist, plus an adventurous streak.

Describe your ideal date.
I love good food and ambience – think wine, sushi or steak on a rooftop patio with great views. That said, the homebody in me is also happy to order in, watch a movie and hang out – plus or minus a bottle of wine.

Speaking of which, what can we get you at the bar?
Red wine, but I won’t turn down a chocolate or Espresso Martini either.

What’s one thing men should always know about women?
Women like to be listened to. Sometimes when we talk, there isn’t anything to solve or fix, we just want to tell our side of the story.

What is your motto in life?
Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. If you don’t try, you will never know. Get out there and pursue your ideas; you’ll either be successful or figure out what the next step towards success is.

What’s next for you?
Next up is a trip to Europe and more content creation with health and fitness brands I use and love. In the gym, I’m also training for another national fitness bikini/bodybuilding competition in 2023.

Finally, where would you like to be in five years?
Healthy, happy, surrounded by people I enjoy, doing things that I’m passionate about. Bonus points for living someplace with lots of sunshine! It’s fun to think that in five years I will probably have key players in my life that I haven’t even met yet. That’s what makes life great, the new and unfolding of it each day. I’m a creative person who likes to stay busy and challenged and am always looking for the next opportunity or adventure. ■
