Jayde Heiser

The stunning model, fine-looking foodie and hot Australian influencer returns to MAXIM for her cover debut. You’re welcome…

Really great to welcome you back to MAXIM for your first cover, Jayde. How’s it feel?
Thank you so much! To be on the cover is really exciting and I really loved this shoot. It was really effortless, relaxed and the beautiful afternoon light was magical.

You’ve made a couple of appearances in MAXIM before this one. What have you been up to since we last saw you?
Oh gosh, I feel like so much has happened! We have all experienced the ups and downs of COVID but it has taught me a lot and really put everything into perspective. We really do have so much to be grateful for. I’m so excited that international travel is back and running again! I just got back from Italy and London and I have a few more trips planned in the coming months, which I’m really excited about.

With two younger sisters, you come from a family of all girls, grew up on Sydney’s northern beaches and have been modelling for almost 10 years. What else can you tell us about yourself?
Yes, I’m a very proud protective big sister! Mmm… what else? I’m very much a family orientated person and a homebody. I much prefer a night in then going out. I have a phobia of sharks and heights and my favourite thing to do is cook, especially homemade pasta. I also recently searched into my family tree and found out so many amazing things like my Dad’s side was from Prussia.

Besides the aforementioned Prussia fact, what else would people be most surprised to know about you?
Maybe that I’m extremely clumsy and get bursts of energy where I can’t stop dancing!

Well, you look as stunning as always. When do you feel sexy?
Thank you! Sexy for me is feeling confident in yourself because you feel like you are the best version of you and content with yourself. As a woman it’s much healthier and more positive to focus on your good qualities and how you are as a person rather than physical attributes. We can be too hard on ourselves and pick things to pieces.

So, what would be your best asset?
I would like to think that it’s being a kind person. I always want to make sure everyone is happy around me or leaves with a smile on their face.

What would you be doing if you weren’t modelling?
I would probably be in an industry involving food, interiors or beauty.

We noticed you also have another Instagram account @jd_creates, which is all about food. Is cooking your side hustle or something else?
I have always loved cooking for as long as I can remember. It’s my greatest passion and I’m loving sharing it with my followers, too. I get inspired daily and you can probably see that my favourite cuisine is Italian. I make my own pasta and bread most weeks.

You also deal with a lot of brands for your work. What’s the most memorable job you’ve done?
One of my very first jobs when I lived in Milan was walking for Bulgari in Lake Como, Italy. I have worked with many amazing people and I’m so grateful for all the opportunities even to this day, but that was a big highlight for me and something I’ll always remember.

What are the pros and cons of being an Influencer?
The pros are the incredible creatives you get to meet along the way and the opportunities and platform you have to share more about you. The cons would be feeling like you have no switch-off button at times.

You have a huge social media following. How do you keep your audience coming back for more?
I feel like just being you and being real is the best way to keep your audience engaged. People can easily feel if things aren’t natural. It’s hard to be unique on such a competitive platform, but staying true to you and being consistent is best.

What message do you have for the online trolls and haters?
Treat others how YOU would like to be treated and think about what you write before you click send. You never know what someone else is going through and at the end of the day we are all human and should encourage and uplift one another instead of bringing each other down.

What’s one thing men should always know about women?
We appreciate the little things.

Describe your ideal date.
A night-in together at home, candles, glass of wine and cooking our favourite meal.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given and by whom?
My Mum has always given me the best advice – I call her Mother Teresa – she’s my greatest idol and I always go to her for everything. There are so many sayings and advice Mum gives daily but one of my favourite things is her constant positivity and to start each day with a grateful heart.

What’s next for you? Any exciting projects on the horizon you can share with us?
So many exciting things ahead, but I can’t say too much yet – just watch this space! ■
