Evie McClelland

Why this amazingly beautiful, fun and quirky Australian model and Influencer is definitely one to watch…

Killer photo shoot, Evie. Congrats on your first MAXIM Australia feature. How do you feel?
I am so honoured, excited and thrilled to be featured! As such a reputable and inspiring magazine, MAXIM has always been one of my major goals for modelling and I’m just over the moon!

Well, you look absolutely gorgeous. When do you feel sexy?
I honestly feel sexiest on set. Shooting is my passion and what I love. When I am surrounded by supportive, creative and inspiring people, it’s just so uplifting.

What is your best asset?
Physically, it would have to be my legs. Which is so ironic, because during all of high school I didn’t like them – they made me so tall compared to everyone. Now I wear heels and want them to be even longer. Otherwise, my light heart is my asset. I love being caring, empathic and just all-round kind to others. In a world like today, it’s a bit harder to find those qualities, so I pride myself in being a positive and loving space for people.

Give us a little more background about yourself and your life story so far.
Well, I’m a 24-year-old Australian model who grew up in a small town called Coffs Harbour on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales and I feel blessed I grew up in such a beautiful area. Most of my spare time was spent at the beach, going to waterfalls, hiking and spending time with friends. I was lucky enough to be scouted in a shopping centre by a modelling agency in 2015 and this experience opened my eyes to a new career path. After completing Year 12 I decided to relocate to the Gold Coast to pursue modelling and since then I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to model both locally and internationally. Whilst modelling overseas I was hospitalised – this meant I needed to cut my trip short so I could return to Australia for medical treatment. This was a really difficult time for me and I lost my confidence and stopped modelling completely. In 2019, I decided it was time to return to it and I’m so glad I did. My confidence has since returned and I have a renewed passion for the industry. Now here we are. Never give up on your dreams!

What would people be most surprised to know about you?
Probably how quirky I am. I post so much glamour, sexy and posed content, so when people meet me they are always like, ‘What on earth?!’ I love it. I’m practically a walking meme.

When you’re not posing for MAXIM, what would we find you doing?
You will most likely find me shooting. Whether it’s content, photo shoots or videoing, I’m usually doing some form of activity with a camera. However, when I’m not working, I love waterfalls, beaches, long lunches and any adventurous activity.

What’s the best thing about being an Influencer?
There’s a lot actually. You meet some of the most inspirational, driven, creative, intelligent and amazing people. It’s a lot of individuals with a can-do attitude and just out there having a go. I also love being able to share my life on such a supportive platform – it’s so nice to create a space where people can be inspired, motivated and positive. Plus, making a living from your creativity and passion is pretty cool.

Besides the trolls and haters, what do you dislike about social media?
I don’t like the stigma and negativity that can sometimes be perceived about social media or being an Influencer. Some people forget there are real people behind these accounts, people just like them, with hearts and feelings. Some people make assumptions about other people before they actually get to know them. But you get to a point where you’re happy enough in yourself to ignore it. Always remember to be kind, people!

Would you ever date one of your social media followers?
Call me old fashioned but I’m a meet in-person kind of girl. But never say never, social media has really allowed people to connect no matter where they are.

What have you learnt about men over the years?
We are very different in many ways but it balances out the universe.

What’s one thing men should always know about women?
We’re not as complicated as we seem. Take us on a thoughtful date with flowers and we will probably forget you didn’t do that thing you said you would and forgot!

What do you look for in a man?
I love a family man. Also, endless laughs with a good sense of humour, loyalty, caring, loving, spontaneous, kindness and can have fun. Personality is honestly everything to me. If you can make me laugh and smile, you’re halfway there!

Describe your ideal date?
Less is more! Anything really thoughtful and cute is a “yes” from me! A handmade picnic at sunset on the beach with wine — yes!

If you had to take MAXIM on a date, what would it entail?
Ooh la la! I’d take MAXIM on the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb – MAXIM has seen a lot of beautiful sites, so giving that WOW factor would be a must! Then finish off with a sunset dinner and drinks on the harbour because, well, who doesn’t love food and drinks?

Sounds perfect! What’s next for you?
Continuing to model and hopefully levelling up always. I have a new campaign coming out soon that I’m so excited to share, so keep your eyes peeled for that on my Instagram! ■
