King of the Superyachts

Introducing UK design studio Harrison Eidsgaard’s expedition yacht concept appropriately named Rex, latin for “king”…

The demand for superyacht explorers seems to be booming, and millionaires are not short on millions, so most design studios sare putting out concepts on the regular. London based designer Harrison Eidsgaard has designed a yacht that will put many to shame. Known as the Rex, it is Latin for king. As such, all superyacht features have been elevated for the upper tier.

Case in point: the master suite; as the most impressive room on board, it comes with four private terraces, two jacuzzis, and a private gym. Occupying much rent on the main deck, there’s a 14 metre pool that can be closed off with glass during winter months. There’s also a large cinema, a two storey gym, spa facility, as well as a beach club with multiple lounges for tanning, drinking, and living your best life.

In prime position on the Rex is the Panorama Lounge, an observation lounge that offers unbeatable 360 degrees views. Actually it may be beatable, as there is also a submerged underwater area called the Neptune Lounge that offers the most primo underwater sights.

Elsewhere, there is a helicopter hangar that will welcome any Airbus or Bell chopper, that also transforms into a squash court when needed. The vessel is also fitted with a large crane to assist with getting the onboard jet skis into the water.

As for performance, Rex sports a significant hull and sharp bow for improved fuel efficiency and smoother sailing when the seas get rough. Harrison envisions a hybrid propulsion package that could be converted to a hydrogen system for true, zero-emissions cruising.

It seems superyachts and megayachts are no longer enough for the today’s multi-millionaires. Instead, the world’s elite are looking for more versatility and increased capabilities for their luxe cruisers – superyachts with explorer capabilities. Rex certainly fits the bill, and also deserves its title as King of the Seas.
