Overlooking iconic Coogee Beach, Marra Bar + Grill offers space to relish any occasion or mood.
I had the pleasure of sitting down for a homely meal with friends at the Marra Bar & Grill, located in the laid back atmosphere that is Coogee Bay Hotel. I can honestly say that I have never felt so comfortable with a venue so fast. The relaxed family friendly atmosphere coupled with the idyllic beach views seemed to produce a bubbly energy throughout the restaurant. The noise was surprisingly subdued given the amount of families also sitting down for their favourite meals with kids ranging from prams to preschool. The menu also surprised, providing a selection that was both familiar, yet refreshing. We were guided through the menu by polite staff who seemed to have every answer as soon as we could find a question. Their knowledge of the surrounding area and menu options made for a painless process that left us with more time to catch up over our drinks and meal.
And you may be worried that with what seems like such a heavy helping of families, Marra may have lost it touch with cocktails. But I assure you the presence of so many parents has only improved them, so whether you’re looking for a place to catch up with extended family for a home-style meal to rival even the best of mum’s, or a great view to sit back with close friends and watch the shadows grow down to the water, Marra Bar & Grill offers a bit of everything for everyone.
A special mention to the cheeseburger spring rolls, which were suggested to us by our wait staff. Never have I ever been so impressed with a fusion of flavours since my first bowl of cereal was met with milk! So if you find yourself around Coogee do yourself the service of dropping by and saying hi to the staff, the views and most of all… the spring rolls!
