The Sudden Storm

With twice the power of a Formula 1 car, the Rimac Nevera ticks all the boxes…

Rimac’s expertise in high-performance electric drivetrains is such that Porsche and Bugatti do regular business with the Croatian upstart. It’s been three long years, but now their concept car Nevera (Croation for sudden storms) — is stepping up to production.
With twice the power of a Formula 1 car, the ability to hit 100 km/h in under two seconds and a $3.2 million price tag, the new all electric Rimac Nevera would make even the most experienced hypercar owner buckle.
For a start there’s 1,914 horsepower, and a potential top speed of 415 km/h — outgunning the claims of some of Tesla’s recent ‘Plaid+’ models recently.
It isn’t all straight line bragging though. With Rimac All-Wheel Torque Vectoring, the Nevera can control exact power levels for each wheel — meaning steady on the snow, or drifting on the track. Electro-hydraulic brake boosters amplify the pressure from your right foot, with 300 kW of regenerative braking combining with the traditional force of 390mm Brembo carbon-ceramic brake discs and six-piston calipers.

Five modes are on offer; use comfort mode, and the vehicle cruises around town with no more hassle than an Audi R8. Up the pace to Track mode, and no one is responsible for your actions. Regardless of mode though, the onboard tech will always compensate for the mass of its 120 kwh battery — the biggest currently fitted to a production car.
The core of the hypercar is the new monocoque, with a bonded carbon roof, rear carbon subframe, and the most rigid structure of any car ever made.
From the extreme to the elegant, the interior aesthetic is based with silken leather, naked carbon fibre and aluminum trim that is milled in-house. Two huge screens provide onboard data logging which export driver performance to Rimac’s smartphone and desktop apps.
At full steam, the Nevera is far your silent EV, with 1.4 megawatts screaming through the car. Not only is the Nevera the world’s fastest-accelerating production car, but the one with the noisiest cabin, it would seem. With only 150 on order — this screamer won’t be on the menu for long.
