FITSPO

Still modelling at almost half a century, this former flight attendant come fierce and flirty fitness competitor is a true inspiration. Behold cheeky Kiwi, Kelly Daymond…

Give us a little more background about yourself and your life story so far.
I was born in New Zealand and left at the age of 19 to live in Sydney without ever even visiting beforehand. I ended up staying there for 13 happy years! Whilst there, I started modelling and featured in numerous magazines and on TV. I eventually left Sydney to become a flight attendant in Bahrain, the Middle East, which was an amazing experience. I love to travel, so this was an ideal job for me. However, I left Bahrain for Cyprus where I continued to model, work at entertainment events and began entering fitness competitions. I later moved to the U.K. but really missed a nice warm climate so I returned to Australia in 2015. I’m very loyal to my friends and always stay in touch regardless of where we are in the world.

What would people be most surprised to know about you?
I like a bit of spontaneous danger and adventure – I’ve gone diving with Great White sharks in South Africa and have also skydived a few times. I once auditioned for the part of Rachel on TV series Shortland Street — if anyone remembers the show — but just missed out. Also, would you be surprised to know I’ll be 50 next year?

Impressive! What do you think is your best asset?
That’s a really tough one to answer. I do get a lot of compliments on my eyes and legs. I also think my breasts get a bit of notice, haha…

When do you feel sexy?
I feel sexiest when I’m dressed up for a night out or when I’m in sexy lingerie for a night in!

Tell us a bit about this photo shoot
This photo shoot was done a week after one of my recent fitness competitions. We shot in locations on the Broadwater on the Gold Coast and the swimwear is actually my own brand called Escapar Active”. I feel it really captures my weeks of hard work and dieting.

What do you look for in a man?
I like a man with a good sense of humour. He also needs to be respectful, have class and be able to fit in comfortably socially. I do like a man who takes pride in his appearance.

Describe your ideal date.
I love going out for dinner — Japanese, Thai… and fine dining with a nice bottle of wine or two. Some great conversation, lots of flirting and banter would make it an ideal date. Then home afterwards to burn it all off!

What can we get you at the bar?
I’d love a comfortable seat first as my heels will be killing me! As for a drinks? A chilli margarita is a good start – I love spice!

What have you learnt about men over the years?
Men aren’t usually as emotionally outgoing or vulnerable as women — they tend to bottle things up. Good communication is therefore key in any relationship, to get things out in the open.

What’s one thing men should always know about women?
We LOVE surprises!

What is your motto in life?
I don’t really have a motto as such, but I believe in enjoying life. Be kind to others and good things will follow.

What’s next for you? Any exciting projects on the horizon you can share with us?
I’m currently building a healthy following on Onlyfans which is fun. However, I’d love to be back travelling on a regular basis, especially after two COVID-restricted years. I absolutely love Italy, so that would be somewhere I’d like to visit again.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
Still being featured in magazines would be an achievement! I’d like to be successful at anything I put my mind to. My main goal is to be happy, healthy and continue to enjoy life with family and friends. ■
