Mina Choi

There’s so much more to this Korean-born former flight attendant and budding chef, who now calls Australia home. MAXIM investigates…

Hey Mina, congrats on your MAXIM feature. How do you feel?
Thank you. I went to my first MAXIM party last year, and I also competed in the MAXIM Australian Swimwear Model of the Year and MAXIM’s FINEST, but this is most exciting thing I’ve done with MAXIM so far.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I was born in Korea and have spent most of my life overseas, but I’ve now settled
in beautiful Sydney, Australia. I used to be a flight attendant but I’m studying Modern Australian cookery to be a chef.

How would you describe yourself in five words?
Funny, sweet, generous, friendly and polite.

How long have you’ve been modelling?
Modelling is still very new to me. I only recently started an Instagram account as I wasn’t initially interested in modelling. But once I began uploading my photos people started approaching me with some exciting projects.

When do you feel sexy?
Feeling sexy is a very personal thing and it comes from within. I feel sexy when I pay for the bill or take care of family and friends.

What’s your best asset?
I know it sounds a bit clichéd but I have a naturally big heart. Also, my sense of humour – people always tell me I’m fun to be around.

What would people be most surprised to know about you?
That I’m pescatarian. Because I’m quite busty people expect me to order rare steak at a restaurant but I always go for the vegetarian meal.

What have you learned about men over the years?
How a man treats his mother pretty much tells you everything you need to know about him.

What do you look for in a man?
I like quiet men and a man who doesn’t try so hard for attention. From my experience, quiet men are so more confident and always turn out to be better boyfriend material.

What’s the weirdest pick-up line you’ve ever heard?
The funniest one I’ve heard from a guy was when he asked me to travel to Barbados with him and go on to be his future ex-wife after I take him for what he’s worth.

Jeez. If you had to take MAXIM on a date, what would it entail?
We would walk my two dogs and go to this Japanese pet friendly restaurant in Chinatown.

Awesome! What’s one thing men should always know about women?
Sometimes women don’t want men to do anything but just listen.

What’s the freakiest thing someone has sent you via social media?
A guy sent me a photo of his wounded hand with crying face emoji.

Ouch. Finally, where would you like to be in five years?
I would like to be a more experienced and confident model and also open a new business in the hospitality industry. ■
