On The Road Again

Laura Lydall

Whether it’s travelling around the world or working with a Hollywood legend, there’s never a dull moment in the life of Ultra Tune ambassador LAURA LYDALL

Hey Laura, what have you been up to since we last saw you in MAXIM?
I did Ultra Tune TV commercials with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Charlie Sheen, I finished my studies at a beauty college and, as a graduation present, I’ve purchased a laser clinic in Sydney. I’ve also travelled to the U.S. for another cover shoot and had a very nice holiday in Dubai.

Nice work! Tell us something we wouldn’t know about you.
Well, I broke both of my legs and had metal surgically implanted into them. Now, because of the metal, I beep at the security check in airports!

What else do you do when you’re not posing for MAXIM?
Gym and yoga is in my daily routine, but I also like playing golf and socialising while spending quality time with my friends. I also love beauty, hence why I spend a lot of time in my salon at the moment making other woman look beautiful.

This is a hot, pardon the pun, shoot in the desert. Tell us more about it.
The idea for this shoot was “Laura brings the heat to the desert” and we wanted a unique location to do something in a natural environment. I loved the location as it was a two-and-a-half hour drive from Las Vegas. It was divine. Everything from the sand dunes to the waterfalls was mesmerising and it was also very peaceful being away from civilisation. We captured some amazing moments.

Indeed. Tell us your role in the latest Ultra Tune TV ad you filmed in Melbourne with Charlie Sheen?
Well, in the ad, I’m the girl who is sitting in the front of the car and kind of looking shocked while my girlfriend is driving me and the other girls into the ocean! It’s the “damsels in distress with big car trouble” vibe.

Any funny on-set stories you can share with us?
There was a slight wardrobe malfunction – one of the other Ultra Tune girls couldn’t fit into her dress and was panicking because we didn’t want to hold up the production, so I offered to swap outfits.

What was it like working with Mr Sheen?
It was amazing working with Mr. Sheen – he was very down to earth and had us laughing the whole time. I also enjoyed the 90-foot yacht on which we got to film the party with him and our crew.

What other actor/actress would you love to work with?
I wouldn’t mind working with Brad Pitt or George Clooney – they seem cool and for sure are great of what they do.

What do you love most about being an Ultra tune Rubber Girl?
Doing the TV commercials. They’ve been going for about six years now and each time we gain more experiences, learn more and get to work with new celebrities. I consider us being very lucky and I’m always grateful.

Are there any cons of being an Ultra Tune Rubber Girl?
The negative comments from the haters. It seriously doesn’t bother me because I have learnt to ignore it by thinking the opinion of others is only that – an opinion. It doesn’t define who I am.

How would you describe yourself in five words?
Spontaneous, loyal, fun-loving, affectionate and dare-to-be-different.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Little by little, day by day, what is meant for you will find its way – it’s the best advice from my father.

What’s the funniest rumour you’ve heard about yourself?
Apparently I got married in Vegas while I was actually in L.A. with my fiancé at the time. We laughed.

What’s the freakiest thing someone has sent you via social media?
Not sure where to start with this one but I get some very random nudes from foreign countries!

What’s one thing men should always remember about women?
A man should always remember that all woman want to be treated like a princess.

What’s the best way for a man to win his way to your heart?
By being caring, honest, fun-loving and charismatic.

Got any big plans coming up?
I plan to do another Ultra Tune commercial later in the year and shoot more magazine covers, but mainly I will be really focusing on growing my new business. I do have some other very exciting projects on the horizon, but I can’t share them just yet. Stay tuned!
