Ekaterina Strelkova

You go by either Ekaterina, Kate or Katya. Which do you prefer to be called?
Actually, I like my full name — Ekaterina, it’s a very beautiful and strong name, but my friends and family call me Katya.

What do you love most about your MAXIM shoot?
The photographer, Sergey Korolkov, allowed me to style it and after a lot of thought this mix of arty yet classic and casual style came to me. I really like the straight pants, suspenders and jackets look.

What is the best and worst thing about being a model?
The best thing is meeting a lot of people, seeing new places and also learning about this profession every day. The downside is that it is actually a hard job — you’re always running around from one shoot to another, there’s early morning starts and posing isn’t easy.

If you weren’t modelling what would you be doing?
I would be working as a project engineer because I’m studying Urban Projections. For now, I’m working in a really nice restaurant as a head manager.

What do you do when you’re not modelling, studying or managing an eatery?

Watching movies, dancing, going out with friends… St. Petersburg is a very beautiful city so each time I go out I discover it in a new way.

What’s one thing you’d change about the world?

Not so much change but I would leave the world without boundaries. It would be easy for everybody to travel, study and live where they want.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
On an island somewhere in the ocean.

Have you ever been to Australia?
Unfortunately not, but I definitely would love to visit your wonderful country.

What do you think about when you hear the word ‘Australia’?
Opera, Sydney, wine, kangaroos and a huge island! Obviously it’s a continent but it’s different part of the world. I know a lot about Australia because I like geography and the history of different countries. But yes, the most interesting is still kangaroos… oh, and Hugh Jackman!

Speaking of men, what’s the best way for one to steal your heart?
A man must be sincere and real. If he wants my heart he must also be serious about it because my heart is difficult to find your way to.

What do you find sexy about a man?
His scent, tone of voice and strong male hands — it’s my weakness!

If you took MAXIM on a date, where would we go?

Paris because it is the city of love and romance. We’d walk the many bridges and all night under the summer rain and cuddle. It’s very cute and romantic.

AND A LOT OF WALKING BY THE SOUNDS OF IT. Would you kiss on the first date?
No, I have never kissed a guy on the first date and i am not about to start now. A girl must keep some things special for a man and not reveal everything about herself right away.

Have you ever been mistaken for a famous person?
Yes , I’m often told I look like model and actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Definitely! If you could spend a day with anyone in the world, who would it be?
Johnny Depp. He is a wonderful person and actor. I would love to get to know him personally.

At bedtime are you an undies, PJs or commando kinda girl?
I like to sleep in either underwear or tiny pyjamas. I don’t like to sleep with a lot of clothing — it’s not exactly comfortable.

What’s the best piece you’ve ever been given?
If you want to change the world, start with yourself.

What’s next in your career?
I would like to achieve many heights in my career and improve my skills. Work more on myself, take my modelling forward and maybe star in a movie. ■
