The 10 Biggest PS4 Announcements of E3

Greatness Awaits on PlayStation 4

With almost 100 million consoles sold, all the biggest gaming franchises, a catalogue of killer exclusives and the futuristic experience that is VR, Sony’s PlayStation 4 is a gamer’s paradise. Each month we catch up on the latest and greatest PS4 news and announcements.

Predator: Hunting Grounds – This surprise PS4 exclusive is on its way in 2020 and offers both competitive and cooperative multiplayer with a dreadlocked difference. One team consists of a squad of elite soldiers traversing through a jungle landscape killing and looting bad guys. But all the while another threat – a solo gamer playing as the Predator – is hunting them.

Gods & Monsters – A huge surprise was the announcement of this stunning looking adventure game from the team behind Assassin’s Creed. You’ll take on the monsters of myth and legend with the goal of restoring the Greek gods to power. The visual style and open-world remind us of the Zelda series, only it’s for PS4. Gods & Monsters is out Feb 25, 2020.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – Imagine an Uncharted or a Tomb Raider with lightsaber duels and Force powers, and you’ll have a good idea of what to expect with Fallen Order. It’s being made by Respawn (creators of Call of Duty and Titanfall) and is a story-driven experience. It’s out Nov 15.

Elden Ring – Not too much was revealed about this game, but it makes our list for two big reasons. It’s made by FromSoftware (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice) and it’s written by George R. R. Martin, creator of Game of Thrones. So basically an open-world, action-RPG dream team.

Final Fantasy VII Remake – Old-school gamers will have a soft-spot for this iconic 1997 RPG from Square Enix, which is considered one of the best games of all time. Story and character were at the heart of this game’s success, and they remain intact. But all the gameplay and visuals have been reworked to modern standards. It’s exclusive to PS4 and out March 3, 2020.

Watch Dogs: Legion – The third game in this Mr. Robot meets GTA action series takes gamers to the streets of London. Whether playing solo or cooperatively with other players, you won’t stay as one character as now there’s permadeath. You recruit members to your underground movement as you go, and if you die, you lose that character, forced to start as a new recruit.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Widely regarded as the best game of E3, the next release from CD Projekt Red (The Witcher series) is an RPG that impresses not just in its flashy visuals, but also in its sheer scope. Played from first-person with deep weapon and character upgrades, it’s also set to have a great story starring non-other than Keanu Reeves.

Doom Eternal – The original FPS is still the best. Well, if you love big guns, fast action, stunning visuals and old-school combat that shoots first and never asks questions. For example, the new Destructible Demons feature will allow you to chomp enemies into bits piece by piece!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – Don’t let the name fool you; while the next game in the COD series does return to the name of the 2007 classic, it’s a homage not a remake. It consists of an all new story, but leverages that idea of immersing players in moral quandaries on the front line. The single player story mode returns with persistent progression across the campaign, multiplayer and even platforms.

Away: The Survival Series – We’ll finish with another stunning PS4 exclusive, where you must survive in a post-apocalyptic world that has been reclaimed by nature. Only you’re not a warrior, you’re a Sugar Glider. As this nibble little mammal, you must explore, evade and survive in an ecosystem filled with all kinds of other animal threats. It looks stunning!
